Ukraine’s female tennis player Elina Svitolina registered her first win in the Grand Slam tournament after becoming a mother. She is playing in a Grand Slam tournament for the first time since her exit in the third round of the Australian Open last year. She gave birth to daughter Ska in October last year. She defeated Martina Trevisan in straight sets 6–2, 6–2 in women’s singles to advance to the second round.

Last year, Martina played till the semi-finals in the French Open. The current world ranking of 28-year-old Svitolina is 192. She played her first match back on the WTA Tour in April in Charleston, South Carolina, and claimed her first title at a clay court tournament in Strasbourg, France, last week.

Casper Rudd in the second round

Fourth seed Casper Rudd cruised into the second round of the French Open on Tuesday with a 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 victory over qualifier Elias Ymer. Rudd lost in the final of the tournament last year to Rafael Nadal, who is not playing this year due to injury. Rudd said that last year this tournament was good for me. I will try to do better this time also.
