Real Madrid’s 2-1 win over Rayo Vallecano in Spanish Football League La Liga. Even though Rodrigo scored the winning goal in this victory, his Brazilian teammate Vinicius Junior dominated the match. However, he was watching the match sitting outside due to injury. All the players of his team landed on the ground wearing his number 20 jersey.
After scoring, Rodrigo raised his fist in the air to show his support for his teammate Vinicius. It was Real Madrid’s first match after racist remarks against Vinicius by Valencia fans on Sunday.
“The overwhelming support for Vinny has been fantastic,” said Rodrigo. Whatever happened to him can happen to anyone. We know this has happened many times in football but we are glad the world is coming together to fight this.”
Earlier, the Spanish police arrested seven people for making racial remarks against Vinicius. In addition, Valencia has been ordered to partially close its stadium for five matches.
