The tussle between Divya Kakran, who won a bronze medal for India in the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP/AAP) has escalated. After winning a medal in the Commonwealth Games, Divya had said that she had not received any help from the Delhi government for her preparation. On this, AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj also gave an answer to him. Now the party leaders have given a big statement about Divya.

AAP leaders have shared an old video of Divya. In this video, Divya is seen appealing for votes for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Uttar Pradesh. Divya is saying in this video – Vote for BJP because we all know how much work Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath have done for us. Be it sports or education or health, there has been improvement everywhere. This video has been shared by AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj. The BJP had targeted Saurabh in the past. Actually, Saurabh had raised questions about Divya playing from Delhi. Sharing the video of Divya’s vote, Saurabh wrote – Now understood the real pain of BJP. At the same time, while posting the video, AAP councilor Shalini Singh wrote – It is not right for BJP to ask for votes and to demand notes from Arvind Kejriwal. I think athletes should stay away from politics.

Actually, this whole affair started after Divya won bronze in wrestling in Commonwealth Games. Divya had tweeted and wrote – She did not get any help from the Delhi government. After this, the Kejriwal government of Delhi had said that Divya never asked him for help and she represents Uttar Pradesh in wrestling since 2017 and not from Delhi. Till 2017 Divya used to play from Delhi and she was given assistance then. The Aam Aadmi Party had also shown documents regarding this.

Following this, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday criticized the Aam Aadmi Party government for allegedly humiliating women and sportspersons by targeting Commonwealth Games medalist Divya Kakran. BJP said that Divya’s victory is not for any state but for the country. After this, AAP also raised questions whether the 17 BJP-ruled states will now honor the 61 athletes who have won medals in the Commonwealth Games? Divya held a press conference on Thursday itself. He said- She comes from a poor family. He has had to struggle to advance his wrestling career. Divya told that she had to travel by sitting next to the toilet in the train, as she did not have money for the journey. Despite this, the Delhi government did not provide any financial assistance to him. Divya told that in 2018 she started playing for UP and she was also honored for it. Divya said that the Delhi government forgot the financial assistance, but did not provide any help of any kind.
