Actually, Saurabh had raised questions about Divya playing from Delhi. Sharing the video of Divya’s vote, Saurabh wrote – Now understood the real pain of BJP. At the same time, while posting the video, AAP councilor Shalini Singh wrote – It is not right for BJP to ask for votes and to demand notes from Arvind Kejriwal. I think athletes should stay away from politics.
Actually, this whole affair started after Divya won bronze in wrestling in Commonwealth Games. Divya had tweeted and wrote – She did not get any help from the Delhi government. After this, the Kejriwal government of Delhi had said that Divya never asked him for help and she represents Uttar Pradesh in wrestling since 2017 and not from Delhi. Till 2017 Divya used to play from Delhi and she was given assistance then. The Aam Aadmi Party had also shown documents regarding this.
AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj
Following this, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday criticized the Aam Aadmi Party government for allegedly humiliating women and sportspersons by targeting Commonwealth Games medalist Divya Kakran. At the same time, BJP spokesperson Shahzad Poonawalla said that AAP’s social media team trolled Divya and her leader Saurabh Bhardwaj humiliated the player by asking to show the certificate.
