World number one tennis player Carlos Alcarez of Spain defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece 6-2, 6-1, 7-6 to enter the men’s singles semi-finals of the French Open tennis. Now he will face 22-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic of Serbia. He gave up a breakpoint in just one game and converted his sixth match point to wrap up the match in two hours and 12 minutes.

Alcarez took the early lead against Tsitsipas, playing well at the baseline. He often shows this style of play against his rivals. In such a situation, the Greek player Stefanos came under pressure and tried to play some drop shots but Alcarez handled them correctly and scored points.

Tsitsipas didn’t know how to put Alcarez under pressure as he was covering the court completely. The support of the audience also did not help Tsitsipas. After trailing 1-2 in the second set, the Greek lost seven games in a row. Tsitsipas showed some energy in the tie-breaker of the final set but Alcarez squandered her sixth match point, having won the first thirty minutes earlier.

vying for the number one seat

If Alcarez is successful in winning the semi-final match, he will reach his second Grand Slam final and will also be able to maintain his number one position in the ATP rankings. If Djokovic is successful in winning the French Open title for the third time, then he will again reach the number one chair. With the win against Tsitsipas, Alcarez has been able to reach the semi-finals of the claycourt Grand Slam for the first time. The 20-year-old created history by reaching the quarter-finals. He became the youngest player since Djokovic in 2006–07 to reach the last-8 at Roland Garros.
