Protests continue against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Wrestlers, who staged a sit-in at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar this January over sexual harassment and other issues, demonstrated again in April. The wrestlers are demanding the arrest of Brij Bhushan. On May 28, the wrestlers marched towards the new Parliament building. He was arrested by the Delhi Police on this. However, all were later released. The performance of the wrestlers has received a lot of support. If you look at famous sports personalities, players from cricket to football have raised their voice for him.

India’s medal winners have got the support of the players of the 1983 World Cup winning team. These include many legendary cricketers including Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar and Madanlal. All of them have issued a joint statement and appealed to the wrestlers not to throw the medals in the Ganges. In the statement, these former veteran cricketers have said that what happened to the wrestlers is sad, but they should not throw their hard earned medals in the Ganges. The champion team of 1983 said that the wrestlers have brought laurels to the country. He should not take any decision in haste. It is expected that the demand of the wrestlers will be heard.
