Indian boxer Sachin Siwach (54 weight), playing in the World Championship for the first time, started on a winning note by defeating Moldova’s Sergei Novak. The former youth champion advanced to the pre-quarterfinals of the bantamweight division by a unanimous 5-0 decision of the judges. Twenty-three-year-old Sachin took advantage of his tall stature and easily won the first round by landing powerful punches. Sachin’s aggressive attitude continued in the second round. Their defense was also strong. In the third round, he made a tremendous upper cut.

Earlier, Indian boxer Deepak Bhoria made a strong performance on Sunday by defeating Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist Saken Bibosinov of Kazakhstan to make it to the pre-quarterfinals of the World Championships. Deepak, who was included in the team in place of World Championship silver medalist Amit Panghal, went on the attack in the last three minutes to win the match.

The Indian boxer defeated 2021 world champion Saken 5-2 to make it to the next round. Deepak started the match slowly and took some time to find his rhythm. Saken took advantage of this and landed some punches on him. Deepak then dominated the former world champion boxer, catching his rhythm in the third round. Deepak will enter the ring against Zhang Jimao of China in the next match.

Hussamuddin in the quarterfinals

Two-time Commonwealth Games medalist Mohammad Hussamuddin (57kg) outclassed Eduard Savin of Russia 5-0 to book his place in the quarterfinals. He will face Umid Rustamov of Azerbaijan in the next round.
