Maqbool is a 2003 Indian crime drama film directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and starring many actors including Pankaj Kapur, Irrfan Khan, Tabu and Masumeh Makhija. The story of this film is actually an adaptation of the play Macbeth written by Shakespeare.
The plot of this film is based on Macbeth in which an attempt has been made to show all the events and characterization of the same play. Although the film has not performed remarkably well at the box office, it has won international acclaim for director Vishal Bhardwaj. While directing, he has composed the background score and songs for the film.

Maqbool [इरफान खान] underworld don abbaji [पंकज कपूर] is a trusted lieutenant of half [तब्बू] Abbaji has a mistress who hates her situation and is in love with Maqbool, who she believes is the only one who can put her out of her misery.
Other important members of the gang are Kaka. [अब्बाजी के एक अन्य वफादार लेफ्टिनेंट और मकबूल के एक अच्छे दोस्त; पीयूष मिश्रा]Guddu [काका का बेटा; अजय गीही] and Sameera [अब्बाजी की बेटी; Masumi], two police officers, Pt. [ओम पुरी] and priests [नसीरुद्दीन शाह]who predict the future course of the protagonist’s life, assist the gang.
In fact, a better performer would be hard to find. Pankaj Kapur, who is probably the youngest actor of Bollywood, is quietly working as an aging don. His rasping voice may have been inspired by Don Corleone from The Godfather but his pan-chewing steeliness is all his own. Irrfan Khan and Tabu are perfectly known as guilty lovers. But Maqbool belongs to veterans Om Puri and Naseeruddin Shah. As for the witches (here replaced by corrupt policemen), they are plodding, dark and relentlessly riveting.
