The boxers of Haryana achieved the distinction of becoming the winner of Khelo India Youth Games by putting a golden punch on 10 gold medals on the final day. He beat Maharashtra, who were competing from day one, on the last day. Haryana won a total of 137 medals including 52 gold medals, while Maharashtra stood second with 125 medals including 45 gold. Karnataka swimmer Anish Gowda won the maximum six gold medals. In these games, 4700 players participated in 25 events, including 2262 girls.
Haryana girls won 6 gold in boxing
Haryana and Maharashtra were tied with 41-41 gold on Monday morning. Maharashtra boys overtook Haryana by winning Malkhamb Pol and Kho-Kho gold in boys and girls in the morning. Haryana girls then narrowed the gold medal margin by beating Himachal Pradesh 29-28 in a thrilling handball fight, but as soon as it came to boxing. Haryana left Maharashtra far behind. Six out of eight girls from Haryana and four out of five boys won gold medals, leaving Maharashtra far behind. Haryana dominated by winning 10 gold in boxing and 16 in wrestling.
Punjab girls became winners in basketball
In basketball on the final day of the Games, the girls of Punjab won the gold by defeating Tamil Nadu 68-57 in the final, while the boys of Karnataka won the gold by defeating Rajasthan 67-62. In handball, Delhi boys beat Haryana 38-31 to win gold. In football, Mizoram beat Kerala 5-1 and in table tennis, Jeho Puingheta of Mizoram beat West Bengal’s Ankur Bhattacharya 4-2 in boys’ singles.

The winning trophy was handed over to Haryana by Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur and Minister of State for Sports Nishith Parmanik.
