Kailash Mansarovar Yatra: Mount Kailash is a mountain range located in Tibet. Apart from Hinduism, it is a religious center of Jainism, Buddhism and Sikhism. There are two different ways to reach Kailash – Lipulekh Pass (Uttarakhand) and Nathu La Pass (Sikkim). The journey involves climbing up to 19,500 feet through rough terrain. The yatra is organized in collaboration with the state governments of Uttarakhand, Delhi and Sikkim and the Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).

Must meet these qualifications
Hundreds of pilgrims apply for Kailash Yatra. Some qualifications have been fixed for the pilgrims-

  • Pilgrims are Indian citizens
  • Pilgrim having Indian passport
  • age should not be more than 70 years
  • have a body mass index of 25 or less
  • pilgrims should be physically fit

Each applicant has to complete an online application on the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra website of the Ministry of External Affairs. The applicant has to choose one of the options for the routes. Applicants are selected through a computerized draw of lots. Selected applicants will be sent their registered e-mail ID / mobile no. is informed on. The selected passengers have to come to Delhi and check the necessary documents before traveling.
