Tokyo Olympic winner Neeraj Chopra and Germany’s Jonas Vetter, the current highest javelin thrower of 97.76 metres, are going to clash once again after 22 months. Both the javelin throwers will lock horns in the Paavo Nurmi Games to be held in Turku (Finland) on June 13. Neeraj had won silver in these games last year by throwing 89.30 metres. This time his effort will be to convert this silver into gold.

Neeraj will enter the Fanny Blankers Games on June 4

Vetter was considered a contender to win gold at the Tokyo Olympics, but he surprisingly did not even make it to the final here. Since then he has been away from the javelin throw. He was said to be injured, but he has decided to enter the Paavo Nurmi Games.

Neeraj has won the gold of Doha Diamond League on 5th May. He will also play in the Fanny Blankers Koen Games to be held in Hengloe (Netherlands) on June 4. Apart from Neeraj and Vetter, Tokyo Olympics silver-winner Jakub Vadlejche of the Czech Republic, Keshern Walcott of Trinidad and Tobago, European champion Julian Weber of Germany and Laasi Ettelolo of Finland will also be in action in Turku.
