Skipper Harmanpreet scored twice as India thrashed Belgium 5-1 to register their first win after two losses in the European leg of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Pro League. Midfielder Vivek Sagar Prasad gave India the lead in the first minute. Harmanpreet then converted two penalty corners in the 20th and 29th minutes to make it 3-0. Other goals were scored by Amit Rohidas (28th minute) and Dilpreet Singh (59th minute).
The only goal for Belgium was scored by William Gislain in the 45th minute. India were on top in the home leg before the European leg of the league. In the European stage, they lost 1–2 to Belgium in the first match on 26 May and 2–4 to Great Britain the next day. Now the Indian team will face Britain on Saturday.
