How to Activate Dark Mode in Google Search

Google Search is one of those tools that we use in most things in our daily life. But when we use a glowing white screen in a dark room, then the eyes suffer. Excessive whiteness and glare before our eyes in a dark room can make us swoon. For this, dark mode also comes in Google Search. We are telling you how you can activate Google Search Dark Mode on your desktop. Now a third setting is also available to the users with dark and light mode. The setting you get as a third option syncs the appearance setting for Google Search with your computer’s default theme. With this you can also set a time for turning on / off dark mode. Dark mode allows less pressure on the eyes. It keeps the contrast ratio to a minimum which makes it easy to read.

The appearance settings for Google Search were announced in September 2021 through a post on Google Support. The new settings have three options – Device default, Dark or Light. The post also mentioned that the new dark mode settings have started rolling out to users on September 9 and will be gradually available to all users in the coming weeks.

How to activate Dark Mode in Google Search

The announcement states that the new appearance settings will be applicable for the Google homepage, search result page, search settings, and other linked webpages. The device default setting automatically matches the color scheme of the device. The Dark setting shows light text on a dark background and the Light setting does the opposite.
