Olympic gold medalist javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra will take part in the Lausanne leg of the Diamond League on June 30 after recovering from a hamstring injury. The organizers have released the list of participating players in which Chopra’s name is also there. Apart from them, India’s Jesvin Aldrin and Sreesankar will participate in long jump.

India’s Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra will be challenged by Jakub Wallach of Czech Republic and Julian Weber of Germany in javelin throw, according to the tournament’s official website. Chopra had pulled out of the FBK Games (June 4 in the Netherlands) and the Paavo Nurmi Games in Finland on June 13 due to a hamstring strain.

Neeraj did not play in two tournaments

Neeraj has pulled out of Fanny Blankers Koen Games (June 4) and Paavo Nurmi Games (June 13) due to injury. He is also scheduled to play in Golden Spike Ostrava (Czech Republic) on June 27, but an official announcement is yet to be made from Neeraj’s side to play in that too.

Won Gold in Doha Diamond League

Neeraj is also not playing in the ongoing Inter-State Athletic Meet at Bhubaneswar (Orissa). He won the gold by throwing 88.67 meters in the Diamond League held in Doha on May 5. Only then did he get injured in a practice session. The World Championship is to be played in Budapest (Hungary) from 19 to 27 August. Here Neeraj will try to win gold. After this, he also has to participate in Diamond League Finals and Asian Games.
