Champions League: Manchester City beat 14-time winner Real Madrid…

English club Manchester City has confirmed its place in the final of the UEFA Champions League. Manchester City defeated Spanish club Real Madrid in the semi-finals. City beat 4–0 in the second leg of the semi-finals. Earlier, the first leg match between the two teams was tied at 1-1. In this way, City won the semi-finals by an aggregate margin of 5–1.

City will face Italian club Inter Milan in the final. Inter Milan defeated their own country’s AC Milan in the semi-finals. The title match between City and Inter will be played on June 10. Both the teams will face each other for the first time. This will be the first time since the 2005 final (Liverpool vs AC Milan) that two teams will play each other directly in the final.

City’s explosive performance in the first half

Talking about the match against Real Madrid, coach Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City played brilliantly in the first half. City completely kept Real out of the match in the first half. The Real players didn’t know what to do. Bernardo Silva scored for City in the 23rd and 37th minutes to give City a 2–0 lead at halftime.

City scored two goals in the second half as well

In the 76th minute, Manuel Akanji scored a goal to give City a 30-point lead. Seemed tired against City. In such a situation, coach Pep Guardiola changed some players. They brought on Phil Foden, Riyad Mahrez and Julian Alvarez. Alvarez scored in injury time (90+1 minutes) just before the end of the match. City thus won the match 4–0.

Silva equals Lionel Messi’s record

Bernardo Silva, who has scored two or more goals for Manchester City, has achieved a great feat. Silva became the third player to score two goals in the semi-finals of the Champions League. In this case, he equaled Lionel Messi of Argentina and Robert Lewandowski of Poland. Messi did it in 2011 and Lewandowski did it in 2013.

Guardiola and Angolotti achieved special achievements

Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola and Real Madrid coach Carlo Angolotti achieved a special feat. He became the third coach to win 100 matches in the Champions League. Carlo Angolotti (107) and Alex Ferguson (102) hold the record for winning more matches than him. On the other hand, Angolotti holds a huge record. He became the man who coached the most number of matches in the Champions League. This was Angolotti’s 191st Champions League match as coach. He left behind Alex Ferguson (190) in this case.
