Athletes at the SAI training center in Assam’s Solalgaon have lodged an FIR against Mrinal Basumatary, in-charge and swimming coach, alleging sexual harassment.
Most of the complainant athletes are minor girls. According to the Sports Authority of India (Sai), in view of the seriousness of the matter, a complaint was lodged at the Paltan Bazar police station on Thursday.
SAI follows a zero tolerance policy towards sexual harassment cases. Accordingly, a case has been registered to ensure that justice is done to our athletes.
The matter was brought to the notice of some athletes from SAI, training center Solalgaon and their coach during the selection trials in Guwahati. The matter was referred to the internal committee of the regional center of the nodal sports body and its inquiry has already started. Sources in SAI, Guwahati said that due to the highly sensitive nature of the matter is being dealt with on top priority.
