Deepak Bhoria (51kg) Nishant Dev (71kg) registered impressive victories to enter the quarterfinals of the ongoing World Boxing Championships here. Deepak defeated Zhang Jiamao of China by unanimous decision of the judges 5-0. Nishant too didn’t have to sweat much against Fokha Nidal of Palestine and in the first round, the referee declared him the winner by stopping the match within two minutes after seeing his dominance in the match.
Nishant landed several strikes on Nidal and landed a powerful right hook that sent his opponent down. Deepak is playing in the 51 weight category included in the Olympics. He had a tough first round against the Chinese boxer. However, the 25-year-old Indian boxer took a 3-2 lead. Deepak showed a lot of agility in the second round. Presented a good view of defense along with attack. A day earlier, Deepak had defeated Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist and 2021 world champion Saken of Kazakhstan.
