Former President Ram Nath Kovind has said that the players of Special Olympics India have made India proud at the international level. He said that physical disability does not become a hindrance if the mind has lofty intentions. The importance of the victory of special players is much more important than the medal won by them because they give a message to the whole humanity to move forward by overcoming all the challenges. This conveys a message of inclusiveness, transcending social barriers. He termed it important for women players to win 89 medals at the international level.

In a program organized in honor of these players, the former President said that this achievement of special players is the first step towards success in their life. He still has many successes to achieve and he hopes that he will continue to bring laurels to the country in the future as well.

Special Olympics India Chairperson Mallika Nadda said that 198 players from the country participated in the Special Olympics held in Berlin. These players were successful in winning a total of 202 medals, including 76 gold and 75 silver, showing amazing sporting talent among a total of five thousand players from all over the world. India’s special players got maximum 31 medals in roller skating. 102 women players also participated and got about hundred medals. Shivani brought laurels to the country by winning three medals alone.

Mallika Nadda said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi talks about everyone’s support, everyone’s development and everyone’s effort in the country. Through this event, special players also get an opportunity to join the mainstream and show their talent. He said that this helps in including them in the mainstream of the country.

Cricketer Gautam Gambhir encouraged the players and said that it is a matter of honor to represent the country in such an international event. In such a situation, players who do not win medals are equally worthy of respect. He wished the players a bright future.
