After a promising start, a confident Indian women’s hockey team will need to shed complacency in their second Pool A match against Malaysia in the Junior Asia Cup, here on Monday. The Indian team got off to a great start by thrashing Uzbekistan 22-0 in their first match. In the year 2015, during the Women’s Junior Asia Cup, there was a match against Malaysia in which the Indian team won 9-1. Looking at the strengths of both the teams, the Indian team will start the match as favourites.

In this match against Uzbekistan, India performed well in every department of the game. Eight of his players scored goals. These players include Vaishnavi Vithal Phalke, Mumtaz Khan, Annu, Sunlita Toppo, Manju Chaurasia, Deepika Soreng, Deepika and Neelam. India will look to continue a similar performance against Malaysia on Monday. Indian captain Preity said that the team will leave no stone unturned to maintain the winning streak in the upcoming matches of the tournament.

“We have made a strong start to the tournament and we aim to play with the same commitment against Malaysia,” he added. Malaysia also got off to a good start by thrashing Chinese Taipei 7-0 in their opening match and will look to overcome a stiff challenge from India. After Malaysia, India will face Korea on Tuesday while they will play their last pool stage match against Chinese Taipei on June 8.
