The Indian women’s hockey team came from behind to beat Malaysia 2-1 in the Women’s Junior Asia Cup. This is the second consecutive win for the Indian team, before which they won 22-0 against Uzbekistan.

In a hard-fought match against Malaysia, Malaysia had taken the lead in the sixth minute through Dian Nazri, but Mumtaz Khan leveled the score four minutes later and then Deepika’s goal in the 26th minute put India back in front. The team was successful in winning. India have topped Pool A with two wins.

The Indian team played aggressively from the start and earned several penalty corners, though could not convert them. At the same time, the Malaysian players showed their good control of the ball. Meanwhile, Nazri took advantage of the opportunity to open his team’s account.

The Malaysian happiness was short-lived as Mumtaz converted a penalty corner to make it 1-1. In the second quarter, India continued to attack for the lead. A penalty stroke was awarded four minutes before the interval and Deepika made no mistake.

In the third quarter, India continued to dominate and put the Malaysian defenders under pressure. In the fourth and final quarter, India focused on defense and tried to retain maximum possession of the ball. Now the Indian team will play against Korea on Tuesday.
