Human metapneumovirus (HMPV) has arrived in India. Seven cases have been reported in two days. This virus which emerged from China has once again increased the concern of the people. Actually, the world has seen the havoc of Covid-19 once. In such a situation, it is natural to be afraid of the new virus. However, health experts are appealing not to panic too much due to this virus. The Health Ministry says that this virus is not as dangerous as Corona.

What is the difference between HMPV and Corona?
HMPV and Corona both are viruses. However, both are quite different. Corona was a new virus, due to which there was no immunity to fight it. However, HMPV is a virus of the Paramyxovirus family, which was already present. It was identified in 2001. The biggest thing is that HMPV virus can infect only people with weak immunity or children below 5 years of age. At the same time, Corona virus has the ability to infect even people with strong immunity.

- Symptoms are mild in a person infected with HMPV virus, but in Corona these symptoms can be quite severe. Taste and smell are lost in Corona, but this is not the case in HMPV.
- HMPV mostly affects young children or the elderly. Rather, Corona Covid-19 can infect people of all age groups.
- Like Corona, HMPV can also be tested using RT-PCR. This is the most accurate method.
- Culture test can also be done for its identification. The virus is identified by growing it in cell culture, which takes three to four days.
- The presence of the virus can also be detected by antibodies in the blood.
