Expansion

Neeraj Chopra, who is undergoing rehabilitation after a hamstring injury, is likely to play in the Diamond League in Lausanne (Switzerland) to be held on June 30. Neeraj is yet to make an official statement about the same, but the organizers claim that the world number one javelin thrower will take part in the league.

Also play in Ostrava Golden Spike

The official website of the league says that Indian javelin throwers will be seen playing in the league to be held at the end of the month. In this meet, Neeraj will be challenged by Tokyo Olympics silver medalist Jakub Vadlejche of Czech Republic and European champion Julian Weber of Germany. Neeraj has pulled out of Fanny Blankers Koen Games (June 4) and Paavo Nurmi Games (June 13) due to injury. He is also scheduled to play in Golden Spike Ostrava (Czech Republic) on June 27, but an official announcement is yet to be made from Neeraj’s side to play in that too.

Won Gold in Doha Diamond League

Neeraj is also not playing in the ongoing Inter-State Athletic Meet at Bhubaneswar (Orissa). He won the gold by throwing 88.67 meters in the Diamond League held in Doha on May 5. Only then did he get injured in a practice session. The World Championship is to be played in Budapest (Hungary) from 19 to 27 August. Here Neeraj will try to win gold. After this, he also has to participate in Diamond League Finals and Asian Games.
