Chess: Delhi’s Jagrut Mishra did wonders in Vrindavan, International Chess…

MMT International Open Fied Chess Championship was organized in Vrindavan from 23rd to 27th April. Chess players from India and abroad took part in it. Delhi player Jagrut Mishra attracted everyone’s attention in this competition. He secured the second prize in the 1300-1599 rating category. 11-year-old Jagrut created a new record at such a young age by remaining undefeated in the entire tournament (7/9).

Jagrut Mishra is a student of Mount Carmel School, Anand Niketan. He started playing chess at the age of seven. He has participated in many state, national and international competitions. Jagrut gave the credit of his success to his coach and his mother.

Jagrut’s mother Kalpana Mishra is working as Deputy Director in the Ministry of Defence. He pushed his son forward for chess even after struggling with financial circumstances. Kalpana Mishra has taken leave from her office without pay for a long period. He is looking for scholarship for his son.
