Bloody Daddy takes us back in time when the Coronavirus had thrown people’s lives out of gear. On one hand the world was trying to recover after the lockdown, on the other hand crime was at its peak. So an undercover cop Sumair (Shahid Kapoor) busts a drug delivery racket in Gurugram. But in order to return the confiscated cocaine, the drug lord Sikandar (Ronit Roy) kidnaps his son and then Sumair is blackmailed. Shahid Kapoor’s entry into the crime-filled world of Ali Abbas Zafar is interesting.

Story
The film begins with a car accident in New Delhi, from where Sumair and his partner (Zeeshan Qadri), working in the narcotics department, find a bag full of drugs. While they are planning to digest that bag, Sumair gets the news of his son being kidnapped. His son has been kidnapped by drug lord Sikandar (Ronit Roy) and in return he wants his confiscated cocaine back. Sumair, who is roaming around wearing the tag of an irresponsible father, has only one night to bring his son back alive. But Sumair has to deal with not only criminals but also some high officials within the Narcotics Bureau in order to reach his son. The entire film is the story of just one day, so how will Sumair be able to get his son back, the whole story revolves around this.
direction and technical side
Adapted from the French film Nuit Blanche (Sleepless Night, 2011), this action thriller moves at a brisk pace from start to finish. The story of the film is covered in just 24 hours and that is why one rhythm remains constant. Shot during Covid, the entire film revolves around the bags containing the drugs and its delivery. In this story of Sumair, how Ali Abbas Zafar manages to involve the hotel staff as well as the guests is interesting. The film was shot in just one hotel during Covid, so the director used every part of that hotel, from the washrooms to the dance floor, rooms and kitchen. Talking about the writing, the screenplay of the film is predictable, but tight. Throughout the film, you are left guessing as to who is more corrupt. Who is right and who is wrong. However, the depth of some characters could have been worked on. Action choreography is the highlight of the film.
acting
Shahid Kapoor is very good in the character of a father and undercover cop Sumair. Be it emotional scenes or dangerous action, Shahid captures every emotion of the character with conviction. Also, there is an ambiguity in his character, which does not let you decide whether he is a right person or a wrong one. There is no doubt that this is different from the characters Shahid has played till now. Shahid Kapoor has a swag and style..and the director has used that. Diana Penty and Rajeev Khandelwal have done a good job as other officers of the Narcotics Department. He has got full opportunity to show his acting ability. Although Ronit Roy’s character could have been strengthened a bit more. Sanjay Kapoor, who became a drug mafia, is unable to show anything special.
