Indian archers continued to dominate as they entered the mixed doubles finals of the recurve and compound events of the second leg of the Asia Cup world ranking tournament on Thursday. Indian archers have thus made it to the finals of all the 10 categories of the continental competition and will now be eyeing a clean sweep of all the gold medals at stake.
The second seeded mixed doubles pair of Mrinal Chauhan and Sangeeta first thrashed Hong Kong team 6-0 (37-32, 34-33, 36-34) in straight sets and then beat Uzbekistan 5-4 (36-36) in the semi-finals. 37, 36-35, 39-36, 37-39). The recurve mixed doubles pair of India will face China in the gold medal match on Friday.
Only five countries fielded teams in the compound mixed category. India’s Abhishek Verma and Preneet Kaur defeated Iraq by a close margin of 152-151 to make it to the final. Earlier, the Indian pair got a bye by virtue of topping the qualification and got a direct entry into the semi-finals. Verma and Preneet will face the Kazakhstan team in the final on Friday.
