Afghanistan: A massive explosion took place in the Afghan capital Kabul on Wednesday afternoon, killing three people and injuring 13 others. Khalid Zadran, a spokesman appointed by the Kabul police chief, gave this information, but did not say whether the blast was an accident or the result of a terrorist attack. The spokesman said in a statement that the blast occurred at a restaurant in the city’s western Dehmajang neighborhood. He said that a team has reached the area to ascertain the cause of the blast.
Local residents and workers said the restaurant was a popular place for low-income workers and poor people to eat because it was cheap. One of those killed in the blast was a teenager who worked in a photography shop in the area. All the dead were cremated on Wednesday, several hours after this incident. At the same time, the injured have been admitted to the hospital.

An eyewitness Hamid said that three of his friends were killed and there were many casualties and we put them in a civilian vehicle and some other vehicles and took them to Istiklal Hospital. Mohammad Mukhtar, the father of one of the victims, said that his son was having lunch at the restaurant and the explosion took place. He told that after five minutes, we were informed that my son had died in the blast. When I went to the hospital, I saw my son’s body. Who is responsible for it? Whom can I hold responsible for his loss?
The local ally of IS, known as the Islamic State in Khorasan province, has increased attacks on mosques and minorities across the country since the Taliban seized power last August. The group emerged in eastern Afghanistan in 2014 and is seen as the biggest security challenge facing the country’s new Taliban rulers. After their takeover a year ago, the Taliban have launched a massive crackdown on IS.
