Indian men’s doubles team of Krishna Prasad Garaga and Vishnuvardhan Goud Panjala advanced to the second round of the Canada Open badminton tournament while former Commonwealth Games champion P Kashyap crashed out. World No. 37 Krishna and Vishnuvardhan beat Chinese Taipei’s Chen Zhi Ray and Lu Chen 21-14, 21-16 in straight games. The Indian pair were runners-up in the 2021 Orleans Masters and 2022 Syed Modi International. They will now face second seeds Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan. Kashyap, a former world number six, beat Germany’s Kei Schaefer 21-14, 22-20 in the first round but went down against China’s Lei Lan Shi 17-21, 20-22 in the next match.
