Kuwait put up a strong performance on Saturday to thrash Pakistan 4-0 in their group match to enter the semi-finals of the SAFF Football Championship. After being defeated by India, Pakistan was expected to perform better in this match, but they could not do so. With this defeat, the Pakistani team was out of the tournament. Now he has to play one match against Nepal, but his result will not have any impact on the semi-final lineup.
For Kuwait, Mobarak Alfaneni (17th and 45+1st minutes) scored the top two goals for the team, while Hassan Alainji (10th minute), and Naser Alrashidi (69th minute) scored one goal each. Earlier, Kuwait had defeated Nepal 3-1 in their first match in Group-A.
Kuwait’s three goals in the first half
Hassan Alinezi opened Kuwait’s account in the 10th minute when he scored from a pass from Alfaneni. Seven minutes later, Kuwait made the lead 2-0 while playing on their aggressive strategy. This time Alfaneni scored. Ali Matar took the ball from a Pakistan player and passed it to Alfanei inside the box and he made no mistake in converting it.
After trailing by two goals, Pakistan players did have some shots on the goal post, but they could not convert them into goals. He even had a lot of trouble snatching the ball from the Kuwaiti players. The Kuwaiti players did not stop here and scored a goal in the injury time of the first half. Alfanani scored from inside the box in the 45+1 minute to give the team a vital 3-0 lead.
Kuwait scored a goal in the second half
Kuwait led 3-0 in the first half. At the beginning of the second half, Kuwait took a 4-0 lead in the 48th minute, but their goal was disallowed for offside. However, in the 69th minute, Naser Alrashidi scored a goal to increase Kuwait’s lead to 4-0.
