Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced Rs 1 crore to the Indian football team as a reward for winning the Hero Continental Cup. Captain Sunil Chhetri’s 87th goal and Lallianzuala Chhangte’s strike helped the Indian football team beat Lebanon 2-0 in the final on Sunday to win the Intercontinental Cup.

All India Football Federation President Kalyan Choubey thanked the Odisha government for successfully hosting the event. He said- ‘We could not have had a better venue than this. I thank the Government of Odisha for organizing a wonderful tournament, along with supporting the participating teams.
With this victory, Team India won the Intercontinental Cup for the second time. India last won this tournament in 2018. After 2019, this tournament could not be held due to the Corona epidemic. This is the third edition of the Intercontinental Cup and India has become the champion for the second time.
