India’s former national champion Harmeet Desai continued his streak of defeating higher-ranked players to enter the semi-finals of the World Table Tennis (WTT) Contenders tournament. Harmeet defeated world number 26 Peng Jiang of China 11-7, 5-11, 11-7, 11-1 in the quarter-finals to make it to the semi-finals.
Earlier on Friday, Harmeet defeated top seed Jang Woojin of Korea in the last-16 match. Harmeet said after the win that it was another great win for him after winning the quarterfinals. His form is going great. He will hope to continue it in the semi-finals against world number 14 Dimitrij Ovcharov of Germany.
Harmeet says it will be a tough competition, but he will try his best. Earlier in the tournament, Achint Sharath Kamal, Manav Thakkar, Rith Rishya had to face defeat.
