Former top tennis player and two-time Grand Slam winner Simona Halep has accused the International Tennis Integrity Agency of adopting double standards. He said double standards were set up to deal with the allegation of irregularities with regard to his Athlete Biological Passport. Romania’s Halep has won the women’s singles title at the age of 31 at the French Open and Wimbledon Open. He said that ITIA created double standards in the matter of doping for alleged discrepancies in ABP.

ITIA said the latest ITIA charge announced last Friday is “separate and in addition” to the one Halep received after failing a drug test during last year’s US Open.

Halep alleged on Monday that while ITIA was saying on the one hand that it wanted to engage them in a time-bound manner, on the other it was asking the tribunal to delay the hearing. Halep said on social media late Monday night “While ITIA publicly stated three days ago through its representative, Nicole Sapstead, that ITIA is committed to resolving Halep’s matter in a compassionate, efficient and timely manner, they at the same time Officially requesting the tribunal to delay my hearing. ITIA says one thing in public while doing another in private, I have repeatedly asked for my hearing and ITIA has repeatedly It has been sought to be delayed.” Halep, who won 24 titles, said she was entitled to an expedited hearing and delaying it was against the rules.
