Farmers, khaps and panchayats have openly jumped into the movement of wrestlers protesting against the allegations of sexual harassment leveled against Indian Wrestling Association President and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Farmer organizations and khaps, being a part of the wrestlers’ dharna on Sunday, have given the Delhi Police 15 days to arrest Brij Bhushan. Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait, one of the main faces of the farmer’s movement, said that if Brij Bhushan is not arrested till May 21, then everyone will take a big decision together. Tikait even said that this fight will go on for a long time and together they will run this movement across the country. He also announced to launch agitation in support of wrestlers at all district headquarters from May 11 to 18. Vinesh also announced that she is ready for a long fight.
Farmers and khap members will sit on dharna daily
Mehar Singh of Maham Chaubasi Sarva Khap, United Kisan Morcha leader Baldev Singh Sirsa, Rakesh Tikait along with women wrestlers Sakshi Malik, Vinesh Phogat announced on the 15th day of the dharna that from Monday the members of the khaps would join the wrestlers’ dharna daily. The number of Khap members participating in the dharna can be 15 or more. He said that if the wrestlers want, the people sitting on the dharna can stay even in the night, otherwise they will leave from here in the night. Tikait said that we should not be tested. He has already given the exam 13 months ago in the form of Kisan Andolan. He said that we have not given anything in writing to the government regarding our demands. Their demands will reach them through their agency.
The struggle will be of the wrestlers and our support
Tikait made it clear that the strike and struggle would remain with the wrestlers only, but farmers and khaps would support it. He said that we all have only one demand that BJP MP Brij Bhushan should be arrested and he should be punished through the court. Tikait said that these wrestlers have increased the value of the tricolor all over the world, but they will no longer tolerate the defamation of the tricolor.
