Defending champion Nikhat Zareen has assured herself of another medal in world women’s boxing. He defeated Thailand’s Raksat 5-2 in a hard-fought quarter-final in the 50 kg category to enter the semi-finals. Meanwhile, Haryana’s Neetu (48) and Sweety Boora (81), two-time world youth champions, assured themselves of medals by comfortably winning the quarterfinals.
Sweety had won silver at the World Championships nine years ago. It would be their second medal, but medal contenders Manisha Moun (57) and Sakshi (52), Jasmine (60), last year’s Istanbul World Championships bronze-winners, faced last-eight defeats.
