Sania Mirza and her Croatian partner Mate Pevic have reached the quarterfinals of the Wimbledon mixed doubles. Sixth seeds Sania and Pevic were given a walkover by rival Latisha Chen of Taiwan and Ivan Dodig of Croatia in their second round match on Sunday.
Sania-Pevic had defeated Spain’s David Vega Hernandez and Georgia’s Natela Zalamidze 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 in the first round. In the last eight match, Sania-Pevic will take on the winning pair of Brazil’s Bruno Soares and Beatriz Hadad Maia and the Australian-Canadian pair of John Pearce and Gabriela Dabrowski.

Earlier, Marie Bojkova of the Czech Republic defeated Caroline Garcia of France in the last 16 match on Sunday to reach the quarter-finals. In a match that lasted one hour and 23 minutes, Marie defeated Garcia 7-5, 6-2. In the other matches of the women’s singles round of 16, Niemeyer defeated Watson 6-2, 6-4. On the other hand, T Maria made a comeback to beat 12th seed Ostapenko 5-7, 7-5, 7-5. In men’s singles, ninth seed Norrie defeated 30th seed T Paul 6-4, 7-5, 6-4. In addition, De Goffin made a comeback by defeating 23rd seed Tiafoe. Goffin defeated Tiafoe 7-6, 5-7, 5-7, 6-4, 7-5.
