After that he made a tremendous comeback and won the remaining two games to his name. Lakshya became the 10th player from India to win a medal in men’s singles badminton and the fourth athlete to win a gold at the Commonwealth Games. Prakash Padukone, Syed Modi and Parupalli Kashyap have won gold before Lakshya. Lakshya has now returned to India from Birmingham. He was given a warm welcome at the Bangalore airport on Wednesday. Fans and family welcomed him with a band-baaja.
His father DK Sen was also present with Lakshya at the airport. Along with this, coach Vimal Kumar was also present with him. During this, Lakshya also danced. After this, he also showed everyone the two medals he won in the Birmingham Commonwealth Games. He handed over both the medals to coach Vimal Kumar. During this, coach Vimal and Lakshya’s father DK Sen were also seen dancing.

Apart from gold in men’s singles, Lakshya also won silver in badminton mixed team event. In the mixed team event, India lost to Malaysia in the final. Lakshya also took revenge on Kidambi Srikanth by defeating Ang Jae Yong in the men’s singles final. In fact, Ang J had defeated Srikanth twice in Birmingham. Earlier Srikanth was defeated by Ang J in the mixed team event. This left India’s dream of winning gold for the second time in a row in the team event unfulfilled. After this, Srikanth was also defeated in the semi-finals of the men’s singles at the hands of Ang J of Malaysia. This did not fulfill his dream of winning gold in the Commonwealth Games. Srikanth had to be content with bronze. In such a situation, Lakshya also took revenge of Srikanth by defeating Ang J in the final. In badminton, India won gold and bronze in men’s singles. At the same time, Ang Jay won silver. Apart from this, PV Sindhu won the gold medal in women’s singles.
