Day 1: On the way to Munnar

We reached Kerala on Friday around 1.30 PM from where a driver picked us up in A/C Maruti Indica and we left for Munnar. It was a beautiful road trip. The scenic views including some breathtaking waterfalls along the way left us both in awe.
Since the driver was very familiar with the route, it did not take us much time to reach the destination. Till 4 o’clock, we were standing there and looking at Munnar as if it were a dream! Our hotel – ‘The Munnar Queen’ was located right in the middle of the hills and looked as grand as we were told. honestly, this is one of them best places to stay in munari, Ours was a valley facing room with excellent service and food. We took a day off to relax and enjoy the view from our balcony.
Day 2 – Visit to Rose Garden, Tea Factory and more in Munnar
The next morning, we were only realizing that it was not a dream, but a paradise that we had actually stepped into. It was sightseeing time and our driver was already waiting for us outside the hotel. After having a hearty breakfast, we got ready and made sure we didn’t make her wait any longer.

As we walked, he guided us to the best places and attractions along the way. Apart from the original tea gardens, we also visited places like Elephant Garden, Rose Garden, Dam, Tea Factory Museum. Each of these places was mesmerizing in its own way and we could do nothing but visit them and cherish some of the memories there.
Later in the evening, we went for an authentic Kerala massage and then took a day off.
Day 3 – Houseboat stay in Alleppey
This was the day we had to leave for the serene hills of Munnar and leave for Alleppey. On our way to Backwaters Town, we visited the Spice Garden on our way to buy some authentic herbs of Kerala.
By 2 pm, we finally reached our houseboat where we were welcomed with a drink. The boat then left the dock, and soon thereafter the cook served us a delicious lunch.

We tasted it in no time as both of us were so excited to see and take pictures of the beautiful views from the houseboat. The driver of the houseboat was so courteous that he offered his seat to give us a boat ride experience.
During the trip we also bought some fresh fish from the market. By sunset we had reached the stoppage point where the boat was to halt till the next morning. While the boat was at rest, we also took a back seat, relaxed, and soaked up the tranquility from the balcony terrace with tea.
At night, the cook cooked fish for us for dinner and it turned out to be the most memorable feast of the trip. After enjoying the starry view for hours, we finally called it a night.
Day 4 – Farewell to Kerala

On the last day of our trip, the houseboat dropped us back in the morning at the boarding point, where our driver was waiting to drop us off at the airport. On the way, we visited Lulu Mall to shop for some souvenirs and had one last luxurious lunch in Kerala. Our journey had finally come to an end, and it was not a pleasure to bid farewell to this beauty in South India. But, the memories and moments only made for that feeling and we finally went home.
