Agra: Undoubtedly, the Taj Mahal built by Shahjahan is mentioned in the pages of history. But do you know that apart from the Taj Mahal, there is another Taj Mahal in Agra which is a symbol of the love of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz. Tourists from India and abroad come to see the white marble Taj Mahal, the seventh wonder of the world. Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal as a symbol of love in the memory of his wife Mumtaz. But very few people know that just like Shah Jahan in Agra, the wife of an English officer had got the red Taj Mahal built in the memory of her husband.
Both Taj Mahal are the symbol of love
Red Taj Mahal is present in the Roman Catholic cemetery located on MG Road in Agra. This small Taj Mahal made of red ocher stone is an exact copy of the white marble Taj Mahal. The only difference between the Red Taj Mahal is that the Red Taj Mahal is smaller in size and made of red stone. But one thing is common in both the Taj Mahals that both of them are a sign of love.

Wife built red Taj Mahal in memory of husband
Agra’s famous historian Rajkishore Raje writes in his book Tawarikh-e-Agra that when there was English rule in India. At that time the British army had camped in different parts of the country. At the same time, Jan Hasing, an officer of Dutch origin, was deployed in the security of the fort in Agra. His wife Alice Hassing also came with him to Agra. Both husband and wife loved each other very much. When he went to visit the Taj Mahal, he became crazy after seeing the beauty of the Taj. That’s why both had made up their mind that whichever of the two would leave this world first, he would get the Taj Mahal built in his memory. Jan Hasing died on 21 July 1803. His wife built the red Taj Mahal in the Roman Catholic cemetery of Agra in memory of her husband.

Jan Hassing and his wife Alice Hassing were not as rich as Shah Jahan, but they built the Taj Mahal of red stone in memory of their husband.

In size, this Taj Mahal is 100 to 200 feet high. There are four big towers, four big entrances, all four entrances have been beautifully carved. There is also a basement under the Taj Mahal inside. There are tombs around this Taj Mahal.

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has preserved this tomb. Also, there is no entry fee here. Most of the tourists return after seeing the Taj Mahal made of white marble stone of Agra. Even today the love story of the British officer is immortal. Even today this red Tajmahal is testifying to it.
