Russia Ukraine War Death Toll In Russian Attack On Ukrainian Shopping Mall Rises To 18 UNSC Calls Emergency Meeting

Kremenchuk: Rescue teams on Tuesday searched for people in the rubble after a Russian missile attack on a crowded shopping mall in Ukraine’s Kremenchuk. At least 18 people died in this attack, while dozens were injured. At the request of Ukraine, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has called an emergency meeting in New York on Tuesday to discuss the attack. Ukraine’s president described the attack as one of the most audacious attacks in European history.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said there were more than 1,000 shoppers and workers at the mall in the city of Kremenchuk at noon, but most of them managed to escape. However, after the attack, plumes of black smoke and dust erupted from the rubble with orange flames. The fire has been extinguished, but hours later, black smoke continues to rise from the rubble.

Russia denies targeting civilian infrastructure
After the attack, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dmitry Polyansky claimed on Twitter that the incident was the result of Ukraine’s provocation. Russia has consistently denied targeting civilian infrastructure, yet Russian attacks have targeted shopping malls, cinema halls, hospitals and buildings.

Russian military launched a fresh attack on Tuesday in the Black Sea city of Okhakiev, damaging an apartment in a building and killing two people, including a six-year-old child. Six people were injured in this attack, including four children. One of the injured children is in an unconscious state (coma).
