Toyota and Suzuki are jointly preparing this mid-size SUV. Both the companies already used to exchange engines and technology in the Indian market, but now taking this partnership a step further, it is preparing a new model and both the companies are going to bring it as their model. First Toyota will bring it and after that Suzuki will launch this model.
Both the companies will not only sell it in the Indian market but are also going to export it to other countries which includes Africa. Talking about the engine of this SUV, the company said that it will be brought with Suzuki’s Mild Hybrid technology and Toyota’s Strong Hybrid technology. Both the companies are going to bring with different electrification technology.
Toyota This SUV will be based on the TNGA-B platform. In India, Toyota has partnered with Maruti Suzuki in the design and development of car models. Under this, Toyota has launched models like Glanza and Urban Cruiser in India. The company is going to provide LED headlamps, LED taillight, electric sunroof, floating touchscreen infotainment system, connected technology in this SUV.
The engine details of Toyota’s new SUV have also been revealed. It is said that the company can give a 1.5-liter self-charging hybrid engine in this. This car will be offered with a variety of driving modes. After its launch in India, this Toyota SUV will compete with cars like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Aster and Skoda Kushak.
It will be powered by a 1.5-litre mild hybrid engine, while the other will come with a 1.5-litre strong hybrid. The first engine can be used in Maruti’s new Ertiga and XL6. This engine provides power of 103 bhp. While the second engine is based on the first engine, which is mated to self-charging robust hybrid technology and churns out 116 Bhp of power.
The 1.5 liter mild hybrid 103 bhp engine will be offered with the option of 6 MT and 6 AT gearboxes. On the other hand, the 1.5-litre robust hybrid option will only be offered with the top-of-the-line ECVT automatic. The mileage figures of the mild hybrid version may be slightly higher than that of the Ertiga, while the mileage of the stronger hybrid version may be 20+ kmpl.
Toyota’s new SUV is being eagerly awaited and it is going to be beneficial not only for Toyota but also for Maruti Suzuki. Now it has to be seen what kind of modern technology and features the company brings with it and how much it is liked by the customers.
