After beating South Korea 4-1 in the pre-quarterfinals of the FIFA World Cup 2022, Brazil players dedicated the victory to legend Pele. Sick Pele is undergoing treatment at the hospital in Sao Paulo. Posters of 82-year-old Pele are raised by Brazilian players at Stadium 974 in Doha after their victory over South Korea. Pele, one of the greatest players in football history, is seriously ill. However, his family believes that he will return home after recovering.
Vinicius Junior, Neymar, Richardson and Lucas Paqueta scored for Brazil in the match against South Korea. “It’s difficult to talk about what Pele is going through right now, but I wish him all the best,” said Neymar, who is back from an ankle injury.
“I hope he recovers as soon as possible and we could at least console him with a win,” Neymar told Globo. Pele’s battle with stomach cancer is inspiring the players to become FIFA champions for a record sixth time. Pele has won the World Cup three times for Brazil. Vinicius said, “They need a lot of strength from us and this victory is for them, so that they can come out of this situation and we can be champions for them.”
