Pakistan: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice President Shah Mahmood Qureshi was released from Adiala Jail on Tuesday after almost a month of imprisonment. PTI tweeted this information. After being released from jail, he has said that he will first meet the head of his party, Imran Khan and will talk to him on many issues.
As soon as he was released from jail, Qureshi said that he would meet party chief Imran Khan tomorrow (Wednesday) and share his analysis about the current political situation in the country, Dawn.com reported. Qureshi was arrested last month by the Islamabad police on several charges including “inciting violent protests” following the arrest of PTI chief Imran Khan in the Al-Qadir Trust case on May 9. After which on May 18, the Islamabad High Court ordered the release of the former Foreign Minister. Qureshi was earlier released on May 23 but was again taken into custody by the Punjab Police from outside the Adiala Jail.

According to reports, today (Tuesday) the Rawalpindi bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) ordered the immediate release of the PTI leader and quashed his detention order. Talking to reporters outside the jail, Qureshi said, “Today the flag of justice is in my hands and I am part of the movement that wants to see a free Pakistan.”

Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that ‘I have spent a month in solitary confinement and got a chance to think and understand many things. Tomorrow I will meet Imran Khan, present my political analysis to him and seek guidance.

Qureshi also thanked God, his family, PTI, courts and his legal team for working day and night for his release. Significantly, Mehmood Qureshi is considered very close to Imran Khan. He served as the Foreign Minister of Pakistan in Imran’s government.
