Pakistan Army Chief: Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa’s family and relatives became billionaires during his six-year tenure and amassed a net worth of Rs 12.7 billion, a Pakistani website claimed, prompting the government on Monday to verify their tax details. Ordered an inquiry into the matter of leakage.
The FactFocus website, claiming to be Pakistan’s Digital Media Institute doing data-based investigative journalism, shared the alleged property documents of General Bajwa and his family from 2013 to 2021.
How much is the property of the wife?
According to reports related to alleged tax records of General Bajwa, the current market value of the army chief’s known properties and businesses in Pakistan and outside Pakistan is Rs 12.7 billion. The report, released a few days before General Bajwa is due to retire at the end of this month, claims that General Bajwa’s wife Ayesha Amjad’s assets went from zero in 2016 to Rs 2.2 billion (declared and known) in six years.

According to the news, this amount does not include details of residential plots, commercial plots and houses given to her husband by the army. Finance Minister Ishaq Dar took cognizance of the illegal and improper leak of tax information of the family members of General Qamar Javed Bajwa and ordered an inquiry into the matter.
