Jakarta Asian Games gold medalist shotputter Tejinder Pal Singh Toor won the shot put gold in the National Throw Championship being played at the Indian Institute of Sports in Bellary on Wednesday. He threw 19.95m to beat his own record of 19.94m set in Patiala by a centimeter. However, he tried four times to measure the distance of 20 metres, but was not successful.
Punjab’s Karanveer Singh won the silver with 19.54m and Delhi’s Sahib Singh won the bronze with 18.77m. In women’s hammer throw, Rekha Singh of Uttarakhand won the gold with a throw of 54.44m. Rajasthan’s Manju Bala finished second with a throw of 53.83m. Yuvraj Jakhar of Rajasthan won the men’s hammer throw gold with a throw of 52.69m.
Tamil Nadu’s Dinesh (52.32) was second and Meraj Ali (51.71) of Uttar Pradesh was third. Manjit of Haryana won the men’s discus throw gold with a throw of 51.24m. Rajasthan’s Praveen Kumar (50.88) finished second and UP’s Deepak Yadav (49.72) finished third.
