Punjab boys beat junior national hockey champions Uttar Pradesh 3-1 to win gold medal at Khelo India Youth Games. On the other hand, Haryana won the gold medal in the women’s section by defeating Odisha 4-1. Haryana continues to dominate in these sports. She took her medal tally to over 100 on Friday with 36 gold medals. UP’s Rushil Khosla made it to the finals in the singles category of tennis.
Bharat scored two goals in Punjab’s victory
Punjab took the lead in the fourth minute thanks to Bharat Thakur’s goal, but UP captain Shardanand Tiwary scored in the 11th minute to level the team. After this, thanks to goals from Bharat Thakur and Rajinder Singh, Punjab won 3-1. UP got 10 penalty corners in the entire match, but could convert only one goal. On the other hand, Haryana secured a 4-1 win over Odisha thanks to two goals from captain Sonam and Kanika Siwach and Gurmel Kaur. Jharkhand also won bronze by defeating UP by the same margin.
Delhi won three gold in Judo
In the first semi-final of tennis, Rushil Khosla defeated Daksha Prasad of Madhya Pradesh 6-2, 6-2. He will face Dhruv Hirpara of Gujarat in the final. He defeated Parv Nage of Haryana 6-3, 6-4. Delhi won three gold medals in Judo. In 50 weight category Anurag Sagar defeated Prakash of Gujarat. In 60 weight category, Anurag Majgul won gold by defeating Siddharth Rawat of Uttarakhand. In girls’ 44 weight, Jhanvi Yadav won the gold by defeating Simran of Haryana. In men’s 55 weight Haryana Anil won by defeating Himanshu of Chandigarh.
