Maharashtra’s Aryan Kadam, who won gold medals in the boys’ 100 and 200 meters at the Khelo India Youth Games, has benefited from training under the coach of the center coach of Jamaica’s Usain Bolt, the king of speed. Four years ago, Aryan went to Jamaica to become the top athlete in the hundred meters. Aryan and his friends learned that there was an annual camp going on in Jamaica, once famous for fast bowlers.
Coach gave training by coming to Pune
Many of the world’s most famous athletes have emerged from Bolt’s academy, including Bolt and John Black. Later, with the efforts of Aryan and his associates, one of the coaches of the academy, Germaine Schendt, agreed to come to Pune to train. This move proved to be a master stroke. He signed a contract to train 20 athletes at the Balewadi Stadium for three years.
Got a chance to meet Bolt
Aryan, who appeared for his Class 12 examinations this year, says that by the time he reached Jamaica, Bolt had said goodbye to the track, but he still visited the academy occasionally. We also got a chance to meet and interact with him.
On Thursday, 18-year-old Aryan won gold medals in the 100m and 200m at the Khelo India Youth Games. Earlier, Aryan was successful in winning gold for Maharashtra in 4x100m relay. Earlier this year, he had won a bronze medal in relay in the competition held in France.
