Jodhaiya Bai Baiga: The Padma Awards were announced on the eve of Republic Day 2023. This time 106 people were honored with Padma Awards, in which 6 Padma Vibhushan, 9 Padma Bhushan and 91 Padma Shri awards were given. Who is Jodhaiya Bai Baiga
Jodhaiya Bai of Madhya Pradesh belongs to the Baiga tribe. She is a resident of Umaria district and learned painting at a very old age and got famous all over the world, as well as did wonderful work in the field of art.
Used to live by selling wood
Jodhaiya Bai Baiga led a simple life like other tribal women. She used to help her husband in running the household by selling wood and cow dung. Her husband was a laborer. He never thought of anything other than earning bread for two days for Gujar Basar. However, after a stage of age passed, Jodhaiya Bai learned painting.

When her husband left the world, Jodhaiya Bai thought of painting. At the age of 67, he turned to art. He tried to learn something new. In those days late artist Ashish Swami used to run Jangan Chikran Khana. Jodhaiya learned painting in this studio.
First learned to make Rangoli on the floor, then painted on vegetables and later on wood. Later, when he was asked to paint on paper, Jodhaiya started painting on handmade paper and canvas.
Jodhaiya Bai’s paintings exhibition in Italy
Exhibition of paintings of Jodhaiya Bai was held not only in Madhya Pradesh but also in many cities of the country. In the year 2019, an exhibition of his paintings was held in Italy. Appreciating her work in the year 2022, former Prime Minister Ramnath Kovind honored Jodhaiya Bai with the Nari Shakti Puraskar.
