Janani Suraksha Yojana Benefits: The central government continues to run schemes for the women of the country in many ways. Many of those schemes are run to give financial help to women. One of those schemes is named Janani Suraksha Yojana. In this scheme, the government gives financial help to pregnant women. Under the Janani Suraksha Yojana, the government gives financial assistance of Rs 3400 to the women of poor and weaker economic class. This money is given by the government for the expenses of catering and care of pregnant women and newborn babies. This scheme is also run in all the states and Union Territories (UTs).

The goal is to take better care of the child and mother
This scheme was started by the Central Government in the year 12 April 2005. The government’s goal behind starting this scheme was that the maternal and infant mortality rate should come down in the country and poor women could also get good food and nationwide after the birth of a child. In such a situation, the government gives financial help to women living in rural and urban areas under Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY).

Women living in rural areas get so much help
If you live in rural areas below the poverty line, then you will get financial assistance of Rs 1,400. With this, Rs 300 is given by the government for Asha associate and Rs 300 for additional service. In such a situation, overall women living in rural areas get financial help of Rs 2,000.

Women living in urban areas get so much help
On the other hand, women living in urban areas get a total financial assistance of Rs 1,000 for delivery. Along with this, a fee of Rs 200 is given to the ASHA colleague and Rs 200 for additional help.

  • The benefit of this scheme is available only for 2 children.
  • The age of the mother should be at least 19 years.
  • The woman should be living below the poverty line.
