Hockey India on Tuesday named Preeti as the captain of the women’s hockey team for the upcoming tour of South Africa. Rutuja Dadaso will be the vice-captain of the team in the Pisal tour. The team will play matches with the host junior and A team from February 17 to 25. India’s front line includes Deepika Soreng Deepika, Sunelita Toppo, Madugula Bhavani, Annu and Taranpreet Kaur.
The middle line includes Jyoti Chhetri, Manju Chaurasia, Hina Banu, Nikita Toppo, Ritika Singh, Sakshi Rana and Rutuja. The defensive line-up includes Preeti, Jyoti Singh, Neelam, Mahima Tete and Mamita Orem. Apart from twenty players, Aditi Maheshwari, Anjil Barwa, Edula Jyoti and Bhumika Sahu will be in the squad as reserve players. Indian women’s hockey team coach Yeneke Schoppmann said the tour is a great opportunity to try out her young players.
