Passed the civil services examination at the age of 21 and married a fellow IAS officer, Pooja Singhal’s career has been controversial since the beginning. The ED raided various residences of the IAS officer in May 2022 and recovered Rs 19 crore from his chartered accountant’s residence.
UPSC preparation and success
Pooja was born and brought up in Dehradun. He did his graduation from Garhwal University, Dehradun and after that started preparing for UPSC CSE. At the age of 21, Pooja got success in the UPSC Civil Services Examination. Pooja did her graduation in business management and became an IAS in 2000 batch. His name is recorded in the Limca Book of Records for this feat.
Career start
Pooja is currently working as Secretary, Department of Mines and Geology, Government of Jharkhand. Earlier Pooja Singhal was working as Agriculture Secretary and before that she was posted as Deputy Commissioner of Khunti district. Pooja Singhal was also the chairperson of Jharkhand State Mineral Development Corporation (JSMDC).
concerned with controversies
When Pooja was the deputy commissioner of Palamu, she was accused of transferring about 83 acres of land for mining to a private company. Pooja Singhal was also accused of money laundering in the MGNREGA fund in Khunti between 2008-11. Presently she is facing investigation against several such allegations.
marriage and life
Pooja was married to Rahul Purwar, but this marriage did not last for more than 3 years and both got separated. Later Pooja married Abhishek Jha who is the son of a famous government official of Bihar. Abhishek Jha is also the Managing Director of Pulse Superspecialty Hospital in Jharkhand. In many interviews, Pooja has mentioned about knowing Abhishek from the social media platform Facebook.
