Link your mobile phone with Aadhaar like this
If you want to verify your phone number with Aadhaar, then the process is very simple. You just need to have aadhaar number. Whether you have the number of Airtel, Idea, Jio, Vodafone or any other operator, all you have to do is call the toll free number 14546 from your mobile number. After this, the instructions of IVR have to be followed for reverification.
1. When you call 14546, you will be asked about your citizenship. Are you Indian or NRI. You choose the correct option.
2. After this, you will allow the linking of your phone number with Aadhaar by pressing 1.
3. Now you have to provide your Aadhaar number and press 1 to confirm it.
4. After doing this a one time password will come on your mobile phone.
5. Now you have to enter your phone number.
6. Here you will allow the telecom operator to collect your name, photo and date of birth details from the UIDAI’s data base.
7. After this, the last four numbers of your number will be displayed in the IVR to confirm that you have entered the correct number.
8. If your number is correct, then now OTP has to be used through SMS.
9. You need to press 1 to complete the Aadhaar-Mobile number verification process.
10. If you have any other number also you can link it by pressing 2. After this the instructions of the IVR system have to be followed. During this, keep your other mobile phone near you, because OTP will come on that number too.
The OTP sent during the Aadhaar and mobile number linking process is valid for 30 minutes. This means that even if the call gets dropped due to some reason, you can call again and use that OTP during the linking process. In the IVR system, it is being said that the last date for linking mobile number with Aadhaar is February 6. At the same time, the subscriber of the corporate plan need not link his number with Aadhaar.
Till now Airtel, Idea and Vodafone have started this IVR service. At the same time, on calling from Jio number, IVR tried to connect us to the customer care center officer. But each time the call closed on its own.
At the end of November, telecom companies had talked about bringing a website to link Aadhaar and mobile number online. However, no such website has come up yet. Going by the image used in a tweet by Digital India’s Twitter account, it appears that users will be able to link their mobile numbers with Aadhaar through the mAadhaar app. This app is currently available only on the Android platform.
